Is the fact that the install disk can't see the disks, even though they are there and OS installed a problem?ĭell Poweredge 2950 windows 2003R2, perc 6i 2 250 drives in RAID 1 and 2 2TB drives in RAID 1. Is the OS drive letter going to be an issue?Ģ. Windows disk management has no problem seeing the disks.ġ. When I booted to the Windows 2003 CD Set up told me I didn't have any disks! How is that? The OS is there. I don't THINK it will be an issue for the server, since it's really just going to be used primarily for storage (unless someone has other thoughts) but it bugged me so I thought I would go in and format the "E" drive and reinstall windows properly. In the process of the Windows 2003 installation I left the USB key in the server and now the OS drive letter is E instead of C.

I set up the RAID config first and waited about 8 hours for them to format - then I struggled with the perc 6i drivers - but finally managed to get those installed via USB key. I purchased 2 2TB drives (from Dell) moved the 2 of the 250gb drives to a RAID 1 for OS and installed the two 2TB drives in a RAID 1 for data. It originally had a RAID 1 with two 80gb drives for the OS and 3 250gb drives in RAID 5 for data. We have a Dell Poweredge2950 that is currently not in use. I'm relatively new at setting up servers.
